Frequently Asked Questions
What sites does the extension support?
Speedrun works with YouTube videos, web articles, PDFs, and X/Twitter posts.
What videos work with Speedrun?
Speedrun works with any YouTube video that has captions or subtitles available. This includes most videos, since YouTube auto-generates captions for the majority of content.
Why does it say "no captions available"?
Some videos have captions disabled by the creator, or the video may be too new for YouTube to have generated automatic captions. Try again later, or check if the video has subtitles enabled.
How does playback work?
Every summary and digest comes with a written summary, a two-host podcast, and an auto-generated infographic slideshow with captions. You can read the summary or sit back and watch the slideshow. These are available in the extension, on shared links, and on the home page.
What is Digest?
Digest is Speedrun's news feature. Curated channels covering topics like AI, tech, and science publish regular digests of the latest content from across the web. Each digest includes a written summary, a two-host podcast, and an infographic slideshow. Subscribe to channels to get new digests delivered to your email.
Do I need an account to use Speedrun?
No. The browser extension and all digests on the home page work without an account. Sign in with Google or a magic link if you want to subscribe to channels and receive digest emails. Speedrun is completely free.
What data does Speedrun collect?
Speedrun only processes publicly available content metadata, transcripts, and comments when you use the extension or Digest. We don't collect browsing history or account credentials. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
